20-year-old Ethan Barnett (also known as Ten Tonnes) delivers upbeat indie tunes that are perfect for any summer vibe.

Read below as we talk Lucy, weird festival experiences and play a game of Would You Rather with Ten Tonnes.

So what are your first impressions of 110 Above so far?

Yeah good! I’ve played here before two years ago and it was my first ever festival! But it looked completely different. It was in a field before and then today I was questioning if I did play here before. I’m loving it – the stages look cool as well. It’s good to see the progression.

Have you managed to catch any sets yet?

I’ve not been able to see anyone yet but I’ve come with Lewis Watson so I’ll go see him later of course. Will Joseph Cook is on later as well and I’ve toured with them before so they’re mates of mine, but that’s all so far!

What song would you say gets the best reception when you play it live?

It’s probably my song Lucy which is one of my older songs that was on my first ever EP that I put out around March last year – and from that is how I kind of got here. I like and I think it’s everyone’s favourite because of the reception I get with it!

What would you say is the weirdest thing you’ve ever seen at a festival?

Umm, I’ve seen some weird stuff! At Latitude one year they had like a play on boats on the river and it was just loads of naked people with massive wings and then they all had massive sticks on fire and they would set their wings off that just went off into the air! It was like an opera performance so they were singing as well and I just thought ‘what is going on!?’

So this was a proper planned thing?

Yeah yeah it was one of the acts, it was just one of those strange theatre things they do and I was just like, ‘I don’t know what is going on.’ It was very weird but I reckon that is up there for strangest thing.

What would you say is your top tip to surviving a festival?

Just don’t take any change of clothes because you don’t need it. I used to bring loads of stuff but now I just wear the same clothes – you don’t need to take any more! Drink loads of water as well, and I reckon that’s it.

The last time I went to Latitude, all I brought were dry roasted peanuts but at a festival you can wake up with the driest mouth ever and I didn’t eat anything else for the whole weekend and I think I got sunstroke and went home early haha, with scurvy or something!

So yeah, eat a bit, drink some water and don’t change your clothes!

Ok and for the last part would you like to play a round of Would You Rather?

Yeah go on then!

Would you rather be invisible or be able to read minds?

Meet an alien visitor or travel to outer-space?

Travel to outer-space

Always wear earmuffs or a nose plug?

Ha a nose plug! I don’t know both would be so shit. Like forever I have to wear them? Nose plug I guess.

And finally, a missing finger or an extra toe?

A missing finger. My dad’s dad was working on the railways in Crewe but he had a small finger and a missing finger because of all the machinery and all their fingers just went so yeah I’d lose a finger.
