Youth Club return with their latest single Sorry. Choosing to step away from their indie-pop infusions they’re dipping their toes into the pool of DJ and dance music. Sorry will not disappoint their older fans however as they’ve maintained their feel-good summer vibes but they’re catching a wider audience with a more commercial, radio friendly sound.
Keeping it simple with vocals and soft synths Sorry crescendos as layer upon layer is added until it climaxes at the first chorus with infectious hooks and some experimental slides. Although the lyrics are particularly bitter sweet the accompaniment oozes urban cool and whilst listening you are transported to a sunshine coast, especially with the Steelpan like backing.
Throughout Sorry it is evident Youth Club had fun mixing this track and it’s contagious as you can’t help but get involved. Instead of jumping and going crazy to Youth Club’s previous sound you suddenly feel like a diva as Sorry will fuel your sass levels.
Youth Club have been one of my ones to watch for a while now, but this could be the song that allows them to break out, so find yourself a ticket for their December tour as they will warm your soul more than one of those pumpkin spiced lattes!!
Be sure to catch them in Glasgow at Broadcast on December 7th – tickets here.
