We caught up with punchy four piece Otherkin while they tagged along on tour with Dead Kennedys.

Stopping off in Edinburgh for an energy packed show (read review and see photos here) we were eager to get all the important questions in. Read below as we discuss Pogs, favourite songs and what the rest of 2017 has in store for the Dublin based band.

Be sure to also pre-order their debut album ‘OK’ here.

3 words that sum up Otherkin as a band?

Punchy, lean and blazing.

Favourite song you’ve ever written?

Yeah, I Knowwe wrote this in a state of pure fear and it really came out on the track.

Favourite song to play live?

Enabler – since we debuted this we are yet to play it without having the crowd just lose it.

The first gig you ever went to?

First gig that I ever went to was the Verve who headlined Slane Concert back in 1998. Robbie Williams also played, what a man.

The last song you were listening to?

An unreleased song of ours called ‘She’s a Boy’. We’re gonna play it tonight but we haven’t played it in yonks so we had to give ourselves a quick run-through to remember how it goes!

Best and worst advice you’ve ever been told/and or given?

The answer to both is ‘don’t eat yellow snow’.

Top 3 moments you’re still to tick off the bucket list?

– Play on Jools Holland

– Play the Pyramid Stage at Glastonbury

– Headline Slane Concert! Give us a few years.

A trend you’ve never really understood?

Pogs! What was that all about?

Lastly, what’s up next?

We’re finishing up the rest of the UK tour with the Dead Kennedys and then we’re going on a massive fuck-off 40 date tour of the UK and Europe after we get this album out. Good vibesss.
